In November 2009, the long awaited building works to the Front Façade of the Albanian Australian Islamic Society’s Mosque was initiated.
Although much of the overall work involved with the AAIS ‘Building and Renovation Project’ has already been completed, the Front Façade was a very important phase of the project for both a number of practical reasons, as well as the fact that it is also going to be one of the most visible stages of the whole Building and Renovation Project.
On Sunday 11 October 2009 the Albanian Australian Islamic Society (AAIS) held a Mosque Open Day to commemorate 40 years since the Albanian Mosque was first established. Approximately 700 people attended this historical event for the Albanian Muslim community, including, members of the society, local residents and the general community, key delegates including the Mufti of Australia Fehmi Imam and General-Consul of Turkey Mr. Aydin Nurhan, as well as many other friends, brothers and sisters.
On Friday 28th August 2009, while on a trip to the USA, I decided on my own merits to arrange an important meeting with the Albanian Islamic Cultural Centre (AICC), who are located on Staten Island in New York.
I have heard about the AICC on many occasions, especially from Albanians living in Australia who had visited New York, as well as family and friends from overseas, however this was my first visit to this well organised establishment.
On Sunday 2nd August 2009, the Albanian Australian Islamic Society (AAIS) participated in the yearly National Plant a Tree Day event.
It was a great day for the families who met at Quarries Park in Clifton Hill. The children all learnt how to successfully plant trees and everyone enjoyed the event.
