On Saturday 8 December 2018, the Albanian Australian Islamic Society (AAIS) hosted its fifth annual Trivia Night at the AAIS Youth Centre.
The night began with a delicious Turkish inspired dinner, which was kindly prepared by the AAIS Women’s Committee and other volunteers; then served and enjoyed by participants in the AAIS Youth Centre’s café.
After dinner, ten teams battled it out over seven rounds of trivia hosted by Dr. Mohammed Awad. The topics included General Knowledge, Entertainment, Sport, History and Geography, Nature and Science, Name That Sound, as well as Albanian and Islamic History.
The winning team, ‘White Star’, took the title out again after being previous consistent winners (except for last year where the winners were ‘The Coneheads’). They took home a delicious bag of sweets each.
The night also consisted of various bonus point competitions, including hilarious charades, feed the baby, singing the chorus of songs, making a hat and ‘Pin the Sunglasses on the 80s Popstar’. The winning team also took home chocolates.
An auction was also held and some Islamic books were auctioned at a fantastic price.
Contestants were also treated to high quality desserts, including chocolate brownie and apple slice.
The total amount of funds raised was $2,400, which will be used to purchase a defribillator for the AAIS’s Albanian Mosque. This is a well needed piece of medical equipment that has the potential to save lives.

NATA SHOQËRORE E KUIZIT
Të shtunën me 8 Dhjetor 2018, Shoqata Islamike Shqiptare Australiane (AAIS) mbajti natën e pestë vjetore të Quizit në Qendrën Rinore të AAIS-it.
Nata filloi me një darkë të shijshme të kuzines turke, e cila u përgatit me mirësi nga Këshilli i Grave të AAIS-it dhe vullnetarë të tjerë; pastaj u shërbye dhe tek pjesëmarrësit në kafenenë e Qendrës Rinore të AAIS-it.
Pas darkës, dhjetë ekipet luftuan në shtatë rounde të vogla të organizuara nga Dr Mohammed Awad. Temat përfshinin njohuri të përgjithshme, argëtim, sport, histori dhe gjeografi, natyrë dhe shkencë, emitim, si dhe histori Shqiptare dhe Islame.
Ekipi fitues, ‘White Star’, mori titullin përsëri pasi ishte edhe fitues i mëparshëm (përveç vitit të kaluar ku fituesit ishin ‘The Coneheads’). Secili nga ata morën në shtëpi një qese të shijshme me ëmbëlsira.
Nata gjithashtu përbëhej nga konkurse të ndryshme të pikave bonus, duke përfshirë edhe imitime qesharake, ushqe foshnjën, duke kënduar korin e këngëve, bërja e një kapele si dhe lojën ‘Pin the Sunglasses on the Popstar’ të viteve 80-ta. Ekipi fitues gjithashtu mori çokollata në shtëpi.
Një ankand u mbajt dhe disa libra cislame u ankanduan me një çmim fantastik.
Konkurrentët u gostitën gjithashtu me ëmbëlsira me cilësi të lartë, duke përfshirë çokollatë brownie dhe tortë molle.
Shuma totale e fondeve të ngritura ishte $2,400 dollarë, që do të përdoret për të blerë një defribilator për xhaminë shqiptare të AAIS-it. Kjo është një gjë e nevojshme e pajisjeve mjekësore që ka potencial për të shpëtuar jetën.
Në emër të Këshillit të Grave të AAIS-it, unë falënderoj sinqerisht organizatorët, si dhe vullnetarët dhe të gjithë ata që morën pjesë në bërjen e natës një sukses të madh.
